I'M BACK!!!!
(Cue fanfare and loud cheers)
(dead silence)
hey at least I'm back now from the Land of Kimchi. Seriously.
Before i start off a very boring monologue of how terribly exciting Korea was, let me assure everyone who wants to lose weight(Rishi read this please), go to Korea. It's a surefire method to lose weight. However, you need to like rice. and lots of it. they eat rice at every meal. even the ginseng chicken had rice stuffed inside it.
every meal there's small dishes with vegetables, with kimchi the permanent vegetable(even SIA had packaged kimchi to go with its korean dish)
They eat pork a lot, since beef is very rare there for some reason...
and lots of rice.
Now lets go on...
(theres no pictures yet because i havent loaded the pictures on my com...they'll come soon)
DAY 1:
arrived at Incheon to get onto a tour bus. the weather was currently minus 3 degrees celsius, and within 5 minutes between the airport and the tour bus, my hands were frozen, my ears were numb and i couldn't feel my nose. yes, it's that cold.
We were taken to lunch shortly after(they do eat early) and taken to Nami Island, where they filmed Winter Sonata, supposedly a very famous Korean drama(i never heard of it)
From Chuncheon, we then went to Hanhyeanjeon Village(expect a lot of long names) to the Ginseng Farm, where we drank Ginseng milk. We also enjoyed making KIMCHI!!!! The vegetables which koreans live and subsist by. Making it is messy though. My mum and grandma also dressed up in korean customes to hilarity. I refused and went to the toilet(where i promptly froze again)
We proceeded to dinner, than to the Oak Valley Resort where we slept. zzz. tired man.
DAY 2:
At Oak Valley, the tour guide said that we could spent 1 entire day skiing. I am proud to say I CAN NOW SKI! Ok not the dazzling slopes of the Alps, the beginners slope was like, sloping ever so gently so you can ski down but not so much you feel like you're dropping...but i did it! hooray!(and crashed into the side barrier after losing my balance)crashed into a pile of skis, a family, a korean kid and the photographer. yes i did crash a lot. but i skiied. eat that all of you.
i love the Korean fishcake. mmmm. with hot soup. it is to dream.
Fingers in danger of dropping right off my hand. they were numb with pins and needles. No hope for the ears then.
Proceeded to Shinsegae Chelsea(I took an instant disliking to the place) Yeoju premium outlet. enjoyed hot chocolate and so many designer labels that The Devil Wears Prada is now on my list of Never Want to See Ever Again Movies.
Proceeded on to Mount Sorak, where we spent a freezing night. it started to snow. the first snow of the season.
DAY 3:
When we woke up, the landscape was filled with lush snow. Lush, white, wonderful Snow. Went out, skidded on the ice and fell. Cursed the snow with various vulgarities. After feeling the first snow of the season crush against my boot and looking back and seeing my footprints, i loved the snow again. Really, it's magical for any Singaporean who hasn't seen snow before. Just magical.
Departed Mount Sorak, chatted with a cutie on the bus(7 years old so don't get any ideas) to Jeongdongjin. Whole landscape with snow. mmm.
Lunch ranged from Seafood Steamboat, to Korean BBQ. Yummy but unsatisfying. Polished off 2 bowls of rice at each meal. rice was like Jap Rice. I get the feeling Koreans like copying Japan.
Took a scenic train ride alongside the coast of Jeongdonjin, the train station located closest to the sea in the Guiness World of Records. Woo.
Proceeded to Mount Sorak. where we froze once more(that ice cream i ate probably did it)while exploring historic locations(fell asleep on the bus each time the tour guide started explaining history. the photographer took a liking to me after i crashed into him. think bear hugs. ouch.
we went on to Daepohaeng Fish Market, where so much crabs and so much seafood i'll be seeing them in my dreams. We then went on to Seoul as Yongin Everland was to be viewed only in Autumn as in Winter, all the leaves had dropped off. A shame.
Visited Dongdaemun Market, where there were nice bargains. but all we did was eat. Can i help it if Korean meals are unsatisfying?
To be continued...
DAY 4:
